Creating new spaces for learning, creativity, and connection in Tiburon.

Since opening in 1997, the Belvedere Tiburon Library has served as a cornerstone for community learning, events, and enrichment. But from the moment its doors opened, it was clear that the original space was not large enough to meet growing public demand. EHDD was engaged to lead a comprehensive planning and design effort to expand and update the facility while preserving the character that made it so central to the community.

Through extensive stakeholder engagement and programming workshops, EHDD developed a design that adds 10,000 square feet to the existing building. The expansion integrates seamlessly with the residential fabric of the surrounding neighborhood while significantly enhancing the library’s offerings. New features include a dedicated children’s wing, a separate teen space, expanded community program rooms, and a digital lab and maker space. The project also introduces a café and bookstore that open onto a welcoming new plaza, encouraging social interaction and public engagement.

The updated library supports multigenerational learning and connection, anchoring a new civic park between the library and Town Hall. With flexible, light-filled interiors and inviting outdoor spaces, the expanded facility ensures that the library continues to serve as a vibrant resource for Tiburon’s future.
