Civic Center Plaza, with City Hall across the street and grand public and cultural buildings adjacent, presents a timeless and historic setting for our project. Introducing mixed-use residential into this context brings unique challenges and opportunities.

Our solution seeks a material palette and quality that will hold up next to the granite, weighty context. The rhythm and scale of window openings, the differentiation of rusticated base from the simplified body, the light, grey color palette, the appendages that add interest and human scale — all of these influences contribute to a façade design that presents a dignified face to the street. Civic Grove proudly takes its place amongst its neighbors, elevating dense, infill, carbon-neutral housing to its rightful place as a solution to our cities’ greatest challenge in the 21st century.
