UC Berkeley Giannini Hall Seismic Renovation

Berkeley, California

Giannini Hall is a four-story concrete building that houses the College of Natural Resources and general classrooms. Designed by William C. Hays in 1930, it is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the Berkeley campus’s most historically significant buildings. While the project’s primary goal is to correct the building’s seismic deficiencies, the project also addresses fire and life safety requirements, accessibility improvements, and deferred maintenance. EHDD made these corrections while maintaining the historic interior and exterior of the building.
