Smith Cove Cruise Ship Terminal and Event Center

Seattle, WA

The Smith Cove Cruise Ship Terminal and Event Center, situated at the end of Pier 91 on Elliott Bay at the north end of Seattle waterfront, is a 145,000 sf facility designed to support the Port of Seattle’s role in the burgeoning cruise industry to Alaska.

The building’s design is robust, equipped to handle heavy traffic inflows, with the first floor dedicated to passenger arrivals and baggage handling, and the second hosting the ticketing lobby and waiting areas. Two exterior balconies are strategically positioned for easy access to gangways and vessels. The facility’s flexible spaces can be adapted to accommodate conferences, trade shows, receptions, and seated dinners.

Designed with a focus on sustainability, the facility features skylights and optimized lighting controls, ensuring energy-efficient, naturally lit spaces throughout. Fortified with a rain screen wall assembly, the shell can withstand the challenging weather conditions characteristic of waterfront sites along Puget Sound.

Built with its unique location in mind, the facility’s large windows and covered decks connect users with breathtaking waterfront view of Elliott Bay, West Seattle and the Seattle skyline.
